The Welean concept

So, as we told previously, we’re gonna dev a product in only 2 days.

After a quick brainstorm, we decided some rules to achieve that challenge. We know it won’t be perfect the first time. But we’ll iterate on next editions depending on the feedbacks. Yeah, we love agile way of work.

What can we dev?

We have lots of product ideas. But for this first Welean edition, it should be nice to develop for someone else. Someone who has idea, but cannot do it by itself. Someone who is entrepreneur, but cannot achieve his dream ’cause he cannot code.
And as it’s the first time we do that, we want to keep benefits of our job exepreience. We will do a web app, and stay in the field of travel. So, we’ll be able to help – on tech or on feature idea.

But where to find people with idea? Let’s try on twitter! Crowdsourcing the ideas should work fine. We hope people won’t obviously keep their idea (and never do them…).

How to work the best?

We will dev in only 2 days. So, we need to focus, we cannot work in big team, need a place where we can work day and night…

Even if we have a really cool office in Paris, we will escape the daily work and find a nice place, changing our minds and habits.
We will work with 3 or 4 people max on a project. We’re convinced that teamp with more than 5 people will require coordination, and we have no time to waste. So, 3 or 4 seems to be great.

The final target

What about the product at the end of the session?

We ant to give it to the project leader. We also want to share the world our experience. So, the code will be release under an Open Source licence – meaning anybody can get the code.
Moreover, to share our work, we’ll try to do a demo website for each project. It will be difficult (and have a cost for hosting), so we are not sure it will be possible. But let’s try it.

Next steps

We need to:

  • grab the idea people will submit;
  • select one or more project;
  • select the teams;
  • find a place;
  • find a date.
